The suit in the 19th Century

While Paris remained the center of female fashion in the 19th century, London became the capital of masculine style. London also gave birth to the dandy, a male, famously associated with George Bryan " Beau" Brummell. Lauded by the French writer, Charles Baudelaire, the dandy did much to advance the popularity and importance of dark suits. Elegnat and ineffably"cool", the dandy was a creture of immaculate grooming and reductive elegance.

An ever widening circle of men from all levels of society bagan to wear the suit as a symbol of authority respectability, and both conformity and defiance. Technical advancements in production allowed manufacturers produce ready-to-wear versions at reasonable prices. these affordable suits were worn by a broad swatch of the mae population, especially in the United States. Expensive custom-tailored ensembles, however, were reserved for the wealthy.

The clothes worn as everyday dress were probably Hellenic Greek in origin, for Cleopatra was a Roman-sponsored monarch, whose Greek ancestors had ruled Egypt since the death of Alexander the Great. This Roman apparel, described by Barton (1961), was based on Greek dress. It consisted of an underdress of soft linen or silk (the tunica interior) and a long over-robe (the stola) of the same material. Over these two garments would be worn the palla, or draped outer-cloak.

This suit is very formal for adult men and women in the Reign of King Rama 5. Pants are loincloth (in Thai it's called, Joang-kar-bain) which is ready-to-wear and waistline is elastic. Loincloth is made of Tard cloth. It is more appropriate to wear in Thai festivals or contests.

1. Environmental Protection

In winter, Koreans traditionally wore several layers of thin clothing, put on an outer-jacket usually layered with cotton and fur or a thick a sleeveless waistcoat, lined with fur.

People would tighten up their pant cuffs with inner pants in order to prevent cold from entering from below. In addition, women would put on a kind of skirt over their head to completely cover them from head to toe, almost like a burqa.

There was a variety of headwear worn in winter, too. The “pungcha” is a winter cap worn by both men and women. An attached flap of cotton cloth filled with fur or cotton covered the ears, cheeks, forehead and back but left the top exposed. The female version tended to be more decorative.

Starting from left (1) pungcha (2) nambawi (3) jobawi (4) ayam (5) gullae (Source from the National Folk Museum of Korea)
The “nambawi” was a winter hat worn by women or old people. It was made of fur, leather and silk, and it covered the forehead, ears, neck and the back of the head, but was open on the crown.

The “jobawi was a winter cap worn only by females, slightly altered from the nambawi. It too was open on the top and was circular in the back to reveal one's hairstyle.

“Ayam,” another winter hat for women had a long a kind of ribbon draped down the back and shaped at the front to cover the wearer's forehead. Its popularity waned with the appearance of the jobawi. Ayam were usually embroidered with small beads and other kinds of jewels.

“Gullae,” meanwhile, was a decorative winter hat for young children from affluent households

In the Karen language, “Padong” means someone who wears brass neck – rings. These folk are more widely are know as the long necked Karen hill tribe who call themselves Lae Ke, and prefer others to call them Ka – Yan, having originated from Myanmar’s northern, highland state of Ka – ya. Originally, it was said that in the olden days only girls born on full – moon Wednesday, and of pure Padong blood, could wear brass rings around the neck. And, if a girl refused to do so, she would be banished from the village and not receive any support. Banished girls were driven to shame and suffered until some of them chose death as a way out. However, these days, Padong girl and women are free to choose whether or not to wear the brass rings.

Thai Traditional Wedding Dresses

The traditional Thai wedding dress was not a Thai silk wedding dress but hand-woven wedding dress made of cotton. A material that is more comfortable and cool in a climate like ours. In fact Thai silk is an American brain storm of Mr. Thompson . Thai wedding attire can be a silk wedding dress or traditional hand-woven cotton or even made of modern synthetics. There is no right or wrong just a matter of choice and personal style.

Younger brides often choose synthetic materials as they have a great range of colors and designs then traditionally hand-woven cotton or silk Thai wedding dresses. "That is the tradition of Thai wedding dresses, they where always influenced by modern trends" So what ever you choose for your Thai wedding dress is acceptable. Well almost anything! There is no rule except Thai custom does not allow black attire at weddings, as it is considered to be bad luck.

6. Sexual Enhancement

Madonna has been tantalizing men and exploring her sexuality since the release of her self-titled debut album in 1983. The Material Girl has been a big believer in taking care of her mind, body and soul by staying in immaculate shape.

Today's FAshion

What's fashion Book?

Fashion source book is used as a reference for various sources of inspiration in the today's fashion industry. It's very convenient to have a place to save resources whether articles, images, or other blog posts that I find inspirational. Also, this source book will serve as a useful tool while I'm working on my thesis project for my midpoint review this spring, which is about the mini-insert in Handbag.

I am posting a Bangkok International Fashion Week 2008, Photographers by Panit Preecheep.

I choose this picture to show how Thailand's fashion industry has grown. This event is one of my favorite clothes collection. The event organizers hope to strengthen Thailand’s position as a regional fashion hub.

He said, “We want to elevate Thai brands and become more internationally recognisable. Thai designers now have the capacity to achieve the global presence. BFW’08 will be a great opportunity to showcase our talented designers in a Thai arena.”

The event also aims to stimulate business across the textile, garment, gem, jewellery, shoes, and leather industries. The focus is on improving product quality and design in order to increase global recognition and achieve a competitive advantage.
